More than a Soundbite: Elon, Disney, Fed Mask Mandate, Hunter Biden Laptop
Sunday Apr 24, 2022
Sunday Apr 24, 2022
This is a hodgepodge episode. A mixed bag. Collage. Assortment. A patchwork, if you will.
Now that I've gone through many of the synonyms for hodgepodge, let me give you a run-down of what we talk about.
We start off by talking about Elon Musk, his attempted takeover of twitter, the public response, transhumanism and the saviour complex people tend to develop when it comes to the elites of the world.
Next up we talk about the self-governance of Disney, Ron DeSantis' challenge of that, the "perks" that large corporations have enjoyed, and the hypocrisy that we've seen as the whole Disney debacle has played out.
We then shift gears to talking about the US federal mask mandate, representative governments gone wrong, commonly believed lies, the hunter Biden laptop and the Shanghai lockdowns: what's with the media response to that?? And what can we learn from it?
Finally... we wrap it up with HOPE. We leave you with the reminder that God is omnipotent, and the right knowledge of that brings true and lasting peace.

We're talking about what matters most in this episode. Keep your eyes UP. Be on the lookout because the well-beaten path is not necessarily the best path, and deceit... and self-deceit are rampant in our current day.

The Vanderbilt Nurse Case
Sunday Apr 10, 2022
Sunday Apr 10, 2022
RaDonda Vaught, a Vanderbilt nurse, made a fatal med error. She has now lost her license and been charged with negligent homicide. But the story doesn’t end there.
Kati Kleber of FreshRN.com and I discuss the timeline, the charges and answer the question: “could this happen to anyone?”.
We also discuss very interesting “politics” of the case. Who is the DA and what is his affiliation to Vanderbilt... to RaDonda’s defense attorney? Why did the hospital initially list “natural causes” on the patient’s death certificate?
This is much deeper than a conclusion of guilty or innocent. It’s a picture of inconsistency, corruption in healthcare, and has the potential to set precedent changing not only how nurses practice but overall willingness to take the risk of working at the bedside.

Twilight Sleep
Sunday Apr 03, 2022
Sunday Apr 03, 2022
In this episode, we have a fascinating discussion with Lizzie Bolliger regarding Twilight Sleep. Twilight Sleep may be about "birth," but this episode is for EVERYONE as we touch on eugenics and the history behind "why" we do things in the medical world.
We hope this episode stirs thought about how evidence of past medical mistakes should make us vigilant of the mistakes that could be happening in the present. Also, while we look at the impure motives of medical decisions of the past, perhaps it will cause us to have our eyes wide open to the possible motives of the present as well.
We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did!

Re-Visiting our Values... One Wild Year Later.
Sunday Mar 27, 2022
Sunday Mar 27, 2022
Today, we're re-playing what the majority of you are calling you're favourite episode of the first year of The Boom Clap Podcast. That episode just so happens to be the very first one released, all about VALUES.
We love that you loved this one because it is the WHY behind why we started the podcast, it's the foundation of our podcast... and if we've got our priorities straight, our values are what build the foundation of our lives.
It's interesting listening back to this episode a year after it was released. As you listen, consider the following: What has changed in your life since early 2021? What opinions have shifted? Have your values changed? Have you become more aware of them? Are you living a life that reflects them?

Beware of Normal. Beware of Forgetting.
Sunday Mar 20, 2022
Sunday Mar 20, 2022
Beware of normal. What even is "normal?" Well, it seems that the past weeks have brought a reprieve from masking and mandates, and we're getting a taste of what life was like pre-2020.
We should be celebrating, right? Or, perhaps, now is not the time to grow complacent. Perhaps now is the time to look at "normal" with a degree of skepticism and wisdom, and to instead intentionally pursue truth and faithful living.
The media tends to whip us from one topic to the next, inducing whiplash and creating a culture of "double-speak" and mass-forgetting.
Together, let's choose a different way.
PS: speaking of 'together,' don't forget to check out The Boom Clap Community. We want to hear your voice!

Sunday Mar 13, 2022
Sunday Mar 13, 2022
First off... Make sure you listen to the end of the episode for a VERY exciting, special announcement! Hint... check the link at the bottom of the show notes... ;)
Now, down to business: This episode is about universal basic income. We talk through Canadian Bill C-223, which has been through its first reading in Canadian parliament. We talk through its stated intentions, the implications... and the problems we see with it.
We also go through the World Economic Forum's thoughts on the topic- talking through the objectives of that organization is always interesting...

Now the Stupidest of us Know...
Sunday Mar 06, 2022
Sunday Mar 06, 2022
OK, we admit, that's a bit of a provocative title. But... those are words from the lips of C.S. Lewis, so I'm sure you can forgive us.
In this episode, we dissect his essay, "On Living in an Atomic Age," and his sermon, "Learning in War-Time."
Both of these writings are filled with so much wisdom that we can apply to our lives during this tumultuous time. The words of C.S. Lewis in these works reminds us that the days we're living in aren't as novel as we'd believe and that no matter the circumstance, our objective and purpose in living doesn't change.
But will we be faithful to the call? Or distracted?
We hope you enjoy the nuggets of wisdom Lewis presents as much as we did!

When it Hits Close to Home...
Sunday Feb 27, 2022
Sunday Feb 27, 2022
Today we're talking with Rita's cousin-in-law, Lauren. Lauren recently lost her dad due to complications from Covid. We listen in and ask questions as she bravely shares their family's experience and the challenges they faced getting the care her dad required. Rita acted as an advocate for the family and explains what that was like as well.
Thank you, Lauren, for sharing.
